Anniyan - of Garuda Puranam and more

Obvious hype out of the way, the movie does rock. It seems to be loosely based on several movies – Fight Club, Samurai (The tamil movie starring Vikram again!), 4 the people, Chandramukhi (For the multiple personality disorder) and a slew of themes.

If this was all this movie was about I wouldn’t even have written so much. Instead the movie is based on our revered Garuda Puranam – based on personal life and afterlife.

The purana confirms there is a concept of hell in Hinduism too. Some of the information it reveals are:

It was read between Vishnu and Garuda it related to present life and afterlife and describes the ways to liberation and how one goes about achieving it.

After death, Yama, the Hindu god of death decides which path to go through when our soul enters his domain.

East gate: Good people, who gave shelter, respect their elders and read religious books and worship Shiva.

West gate: Worshippers of Vishnu who practice non violence, non stealing, recite Vedas, practice brahmacharya, ascetics, renunciates, who have the attitude of non-attachment (vairagya) and who have spiritual knowledge.

South gate: Sinners who suffer the worst tortures in hell of the Baitarani river that holds boiling hot blood and flesh.

Our physical body is made up of the six Chakras, we must breathe 21600 times during 24 hours and that each inhaling and exhaling be made into an act of japa mala with such mantras as Soham, Hare Ram etc. - Exact words from an online source

The Pranayama:

The book says that the pranayama is supposed to be the best healers, where inhaling, retention and exhaling can cure anyone of any disease.

The human body is a temporary cage and youth, wealth and are temporary too.

The book also specifies how to detect what type of a person man and woman you are interacting with based on some of their traits. Some of the rules defined are very detail oriented on how a family should be, how a woman should be in a family and what are the ways to attain moksha. One thing that caught my eye was that if the husband is untraceable, dead, or has renounced the world, is impotent or degraded - in these cases of emergency a woman can remarry.

The book also specifies the different punishments meted out to the sinner, for example if he neglects the food cooked to the others he fries in boiling oil in hell. If he does not care about the wellbeing of others he is tortured in hell with insects. If he does not help a suffering person, he will be killed by animals on a stampede.

Which brings me back to why I like the movie, it is one of the first movies that points to how great our vedic books and scripts are. It also shows how a man and woman should conduct themselves. The Vedas prescribe how a king should rule his country and the several ways to attain moksha.

Such movies are welcome, as it will instill faith of Hindus in our holy books, similar to movies like Omega Code and Meggido that I saw, which say that the Bible is a hidden code/ program which if decoded can make the owner of the code the next Satan.

If more movies like this can be made in India, to show the greatness of our Geetha and Vedas and that it can make great our country, I think the movie industry has done its job!

UFOs - My theory

UFOs and the little green men are widely believed to be sighted and found to be true, or at least that is what people think. I think it would be too much for me to digest the fact, that on an ordinary day we would see spaceships land in front of my apartment and green men walking out and shooting people down with laser guns and then finally we using water or even better, Britney Spears music to chase them out of our world.
I'd prefer to think they are already on this earth living among us, learning to co-exist with us already. If so which race would qualify for an alien race?
First the obvious ones who aren't:
1) Americans: Oh come on, they'd have a tough time trying to prove who among their forefathers were aliens, Germans? Irish? Polish?
2) Asian Indians: They're pretty diverse too, and myself being an Indian, I realize my breed of people don't have what it takes to be alien origin
3) Blacks: Ariiittt, yooaalll, this one was close yo, but had to disqualify coz they ain't gonna like me callin Tupac or Snoopy aliens.

So who among us are aliens you ask, taaadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa - Chinese

First of all, the most obvious thing about them is the shape of their eyes - The sharp and oval shaped eyes are the closest to being different from any of our eyes and closest to alien eyes.

Then about their eating habits - who on earth(or anywhere in the galaxy) eats snakes, rats, scorpions or tarantulas. Man that requires some out of the world stomach to digest all that.
I had a Chinese friend who was exceptionally brilliant, he could solve problems so quickly when some of us in the class were still trying to comprehend the question. Their brains are fueled by some alien force.
What about their alphabets, THEY DONT HAVE ANY! instead they have 3000 or so symbols. Most languages have alphabets. Do those symbols mean anything? I'd bet they are used in communicating with planet ChingChango or something located 50 million light years away.
Another incident I remember when I went to visit my sister in New York. I slept in the sofa in the living room and kept the window open. I had only slept for a few minutes when one of these Chinese guys got out of his apartment and starting talking on his mobile phone. Believe me, it was midnight, he was talking at the top of his voice, and he was looking right up at the stars. Freaked me out!
Martial art is synonymous with the Chinese. When the rest of the world depends on guns and swords to fight, these guys have developed an art to fight with bare hands.

We say little green men don’t we. These guys come close to it....little yellow men, with alien eyes, a funny language which has according to me the most variant pitch and frequency.

Every 5th person in the world is a Chinese, well soon they will take over the world!

UFOs might never come to earth and invade us, because they already have! 1/4th of the world's population and area belong to them, they have taken the best jobs and have the hottest chicks! What more is there to take over in the world then?

An ordinary world

Vincent Van Gogh, John Nash, tom cruise, Winston Churchill, Alexander graham bell, Thomas Edison, Leonardo Da Vinci...
All these people have a thing in common besides being famous, they all suffer from birth defects. Some of them are dyslexic

and some of them suffer from schizophrenia, still others have other defects, both physical and mental.

I was talking with one of my colleagues and I heard that scientists are working on perfecting the process of pinpointing unborn babies with birth defects. This they say can help in aborting them well before a critical time period when the fetus develops. So a pregnant mom can go get a scan and if she knows her baby is going to have a birth defect she can abort it...No hassles because the baby has no name, therefore no attachment...And everyone lives happily ever after right? Wrong!

It is usually a child with learning disorders like Einstein and Newton that grow up to be a genius and break limits set by ordinary people.

If these future geniuses are killed before birth, would the world be devoid of brilliant people? Would we be getting a Stephen Hawking or a Da Vinci in the future? What would such a world look like?
