Cloverfield - 4.5/5

"Take it down, take it down!"

First off, those who haven't seen the movie, two words - SEE IT NOW!!! :P

Those who've seen it, I know there are those who absolutely love the movie and those that hate it. There were two reasons for hating it, one being it's another Godzilla type movie (I'll retort in a bit...) and the second is the rapid camera shake causing vertigo and nausea (Yeah right!)

With regards to the shaking video on screen, I dont even want to argue about it, but when you're 20 something, the adrenaline associated with seeing the creature and wanting to capture footage of it is justified. So all those critics that say 'I dont understand why you would hold your handycam when you're being chased by a 500 ft monster', thats B.S.

Don't even compare Cloverfield to Godzilla. The latter is a radioactive lizard, while the former classification is unknown. There have been websites that claim it's a monster created from the Slusho parent company's pollution. I'd say the less we know about the monster, the better and scarier!

Although this picture doesn't do the justice, the monster's full display towards the end is both scary and breath-taking!

Verdict: I am waiting for Cloverfield 2, taken from the perspective of another handycam, the person who Hud captures on his handycam...per what Matt Reeves says here "There's a moment on the Brooklyn Bridge, and there was a guy filming something on the side of the bridge, and Hud sees him filming and he turns over and he sees the ship that's been capsized and sees the headless Statue of Liberty, and then he turns back and this guy's briefly filming him. In my mind that was two movies intersecting for a brief moment, and I thought there was something interesting in the idea that this incident happened and there are so many different points of view...."
