A Scanner Darkly and The Descent

Both movies rock!
The former is just another perfect creation from Philip.K.Dick the man behind Minority Report.I'll try not to give away the ending. The movie is about an alternative future where America lost it's war against drugs. Therefore everyone smokes pot and not much is done about it.
There is a drug called Substance D which Fred (Keanu Reeves) consumes and the side effect of which is he becomes Bob, a dangerous drug dealer (MPD)
Since he is unaware that Bob is himself, he sets up a camera at his own house, to figure out who Bob is. There is an interesting feature used called the 'Scrabble suit' which distorts one's face and voice thereby, no one knows that Keanu Reeves is in that suit while being a cop...
At this point I just can't write the entire story, but the sheer brilliance of it should be enjoyed only by watching it.
Bob/ Fred finally gets busted and is sent to rehabilitation. The twist is at the end...and my my, what a twist it is!
Just watch it!

The Descent is a UK release and I saw the UK version of it. Take an extra pair of pants with you when you watch the movie. It makes you feel helpless.
Its about 6 chicks who descend a cave to explore it. What they dont know is that there are carnivorous, blind bat like creatures lurking in the cave and they are happy to see food walking right upto them (Talk about junk food :D)
What makes this movie different from 'The Cave' or movies where people just jump into trouble is that these chicks ACTUALLY want to survive. They don't have guns or knives or any weapons and it makes the hunt and survival all the more interesting. The ending again has a great twist that makes you feel bad for the characters. It has betrayal, love, friendship and everything in the right mix.
This movie will make you never want to venture into a cave again!

the movie had to convince you not to venture dark, spooky, umimaginably-inhabited caves? the effect women have on men.
