Pen Tennis

Reading this article brought back memories of a game we used to play in school. Unlike book cricket this is usually played during breaks and lunch times. Furious competitions are held and a champion is crowned everytime. It rhymes with Tennis except...replace the T with a P and use both n's to make it sound not very lewd.

The game usually involves multiple people or a face off. The table is usually dust free and slanted for extra pleasure.
Steps:
1) Keep both (or any number of) pens in a line, parallel to the ground and length of the table.
2) Each one 'tees' off and that involves flicking the pen to a random position so it's fair that the first person doesnt end up knocking everyone.
3) Usually the guy who's pen ends up aligned perpendicular to the length of the table ends up winning just because a flick from him will spin and hit every other pen.

The game was such a rush everytime, just because the size of your pen did not matter, it's how you used it.

The chicas in the class liked the display of all the pens. I for one had a long thin pen (Reynolds) that was light, but was rough edged to keep it from falling off.

Many an ink pens have died in battle, many a cheap bic pens have become champions!

Ahhh, I miss the good old days!

Hi ,

I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be wow.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘Unimaginativity’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)

Cheers,
